Anti-Racism Policy
“The beauty of anti-racism is that you don’t have to pretend to be free of racism to be anti-racist. Anti-racism is the commitment to fight racism wherever you find it, including in yourself. And it’s the only way forward.” - Ijeoma Oluo
As therapists, social workers, and humans, we are aligned with, and our values and ethics demand, that we stand actively against racism, discrimination, and social injustice. We acknowledge the inherent privilege within our social identities and commit to active and ongoing critical self-reflection around the space and power we hold. We also acknowledge the history of harm perpetrated against BIPOC as a function of the system of social work and the field of psychotherapy. We commit to continuing to incorporate theories and interventions informed by broader cultural considerations and knowledge into our practice.
We won’t do it perfectly; but, as a business and as individuals, we commit to continued education, practice, and re-learning. We commit to transparency, honesty, and humility in our efforts, and welcome any discussions or feedback around the topic.
